  • Level 3/DC fast charging: These are rapid chargers and work at the highest speeds. These function directly on DC, unlike the other chargers which work on AC. They function on 400-750 volts and require installation. Not all EVs are compatible with these chargers.

 

Choosing the right charger or the right mix of chargers is highly crucial.

 

Step 3: – Power Supply and Electrical Upgrades.

 

Ensure that the electrical infrastructure at the target location can support the charging station’s power requirements. Consult with an experienced electrician to assess the existing electrical system and make any necessary upgrades to accommodate the charging station’s load. This may involve increasing the electrical capacity, installing dedicated circuits, installing solar carports, or upgrading transformers.

  • Any organization or individual who asks for connectivity for setting up an EV charging station will be accepted or rejected on a priority basis by the Electricity Distribution Company of that area.
  • There are no specific licensing requirements for establishing public EV charging stations. Individuals or organizations have the freedom to set up an electric vehicle charging station without needing any specific licenses.
  • Electric vehicle charging stations can receive power directly from the electricity generation and supply company.
  • The Ministry of Power and the Central Electricity Authority establish performance standards for electric charging stations.
