Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), one of India’s leading oil and gas companies, has announced the launch of EV fast charging stations on six highways in Western India. The six highways that have been converted into electric corridors are Pune-Ahmednagar-Aurangabad, Pune-Solapur, Pune-Nashik, Pune-Kolhapur, Mumbai-Nashik, and Nashik-Shirdi.

The EV fast chargers are available at BPCL fuel stations and can recharge electric vehicles in just 30 minutes, giving a driving range of up to 125 kilometers. To ensure convenient access, the distance between two such facilities on highways has been kept within 100 kilometers.

BPCL has taken this step to support and accelerate the growth of electric vehicles in the country. The company plans to convert 200 highways into electric corridors by March 2023. The fast chargers follow the CCS-2 protocol and are part of BPCL’s initiative to address the range anxiety of electric vehicle owners. The company aims to provide a seamless and hassle-free charging experience to its customers.

Electric vehicle customers will have access to BPCL’s EV fast charging stations through a pay-per-use online service. The fast chargers are designed to be self-operated without manual assistance, although support staff will be available, if needed.

In addition to fast charging services, Bharat Petroleum Fuel Stations offer EV customers a range of added conveniences, such as clean and hygienic washrooms, cash withdrawals, safe and secure parking during charging, free digital air facilities, and 24-hour operations. Some fuel stations also provide Nitrogen filling facilities.

BPCL has digitized the entire process of locating EV chargers, managing charger operations, and conducting transactions through the HelloBPCL app. This digitized process provides a hassle-free and transparent user experience for EV customers.
